Students study core units including principles, safe working practices, product design manufacture, commercial and quality processes, and a specialist project.
Optional units allow further specialisation in areas such as computer aided design (CAD), manufacturing processes, electronics and materials.
This qualification is equivalent to two A Levels and consists of 10 units, with five mandatory components covering core engineering knowledge and skills.
Assessment is a combination of internal coursework (eight units) and external examinations.
