Students explore how health and care services support individuals across the lifespan while developing knowledge of professional roles within the sector.

The course combines theoretical understanding with applied coursework tasks based on realistic scenarios, helping students build the knowledge, practical understanding, and transferable skills needed for further study or careers in health and social care.

    Course content

Students study Human Lifespan Development, exploring how people grow and develop, and Working in Health and Social Care, which covers services, roles, and professional values.

They also learn about Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs, focusing on person centred care and communication.

Practical skills are developed through simulated scenarios in the WRD ward environment, where students practise teamwork and care in a safe, realistic setting.

The course also uses AI training mannequins which simulate patient responses, helping students experience realistic care situations and build confidence in responding to patient needs.

    Students will complete:

    • Written coursework assignments based on realistic case studies
